ANODISING

Aluminium anodising

A treatment integrated into the surface.

Anodising modifies the aluminium surface. To request an assessment from SACAL, describe the material, condition of the part and desired result.

What changes at the surface

General explanation of the treatment. SACAL’s sequence and operating conditions must be confirmed for each request.

Oxide integrated into aluminium

Anodising converts the aluminium surface into an oxide layer bonded to the metal itself. Unlike coating, it does not add a paint film and retains the visual character of the metal surface.

An electrochemical change

In general, the part is cleaned and prepared before entering an electrolytic bath, where electric current grows the oxide layer. Depending on the system, colouring and pore sealing may follow. These possibilities do not confirm finishes available at SACAL.

The alloy matters

Alloy composition, initial condition and surface preparation can change gloss and appearance, even under similar conditions. Oxide thickness and sealing also influence performance. Existing marks may remain visible.

Requests for assessment

Suitability depends on the material and part. These categories do not constitute a list of confirmed capabilities.

01

Aluminium parts

Identify the alloy, if known, and describe the current surface condition.

02

Components

Provide dimensions, quantity and function to explain the request.

03

Specific projects

Describe the finish and intended use; compatibility must be confirmed individually.

Comparison

Anodising or coating?

Coating

Applies a finishing layer over the surface of the part.

Anodising

Modifies the aluminium surface through an electrochemical process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About anodising

01 What is anodising?

It is an electrochemical treatment that forms an oxide layer integrated into the aluminium surface.

02 Is it suitable for every metal?

This page describes aluminium treatment. The alloy and part characteristics should be assessed; it does not imply that SACAL accepts other materials.

03 Which colours and finishes are available?

State the desired result in your request. Colours, finishes and technical conditions available at SACAL require confirmation.

04 Can I send a previously treated part?

Describe the previous treatment and current condition. The possibility of further treatment depends on assessment.

What finish are you looking for?

Share photographs of the part and tell us the finish you have in mind.
