COATING

Metal Coating

Colour, protection and finish for metal parts and components.

From Seixal, SACAL assesses requests for metal pieces and components, including gates, rims, bicycle and motorcycle elements, and special projects.

What changes at the surface

General explanation of the treatment. SACAL’s sequence and operating conditions must be confirmed for each request.

A layer over the metal

Coating adds an organic layer over the part. This film defines its appearance and can help protect the metal; performance depends on the selected system and the service environment.

Prepare, apply, cure

In powder coating, the surface is generally cleaned and pretreated to promote adhesion. Powder is applied electrostatically and heated to form a continuous film. This is a general description, not confirmation of the method used by SACAL.

The result starts with the part

The material, corrosion, previous coatings and irregularities affect preparation. Film thickness, curing and exposure influence the result; a paint layer does not necessarily remove defects in the part.

Applications

Examples of requests for assessment. Listing an application does not confirm its compatibility with a treatment.

01

Gates

Gates, railings and metalwork: finish suitability depends on the material and exposure.

02

Bicycles and motorcycles

Metal elements for cycling and motorcycling, subject to individual assessment.

03

Rims

The material, condition and use of a rim should be assessed before selecting a treatment.

04

Industrial components

Parts and components for different industrial uses, according to each project’s characteristics.

05

Special projects

Parts outside the usual categories: each request is assessed individually.

Comparison

Coating or anodising?

Coating

Applies a finishing layer over the surface of the part.

Anodising

Modifies the aluminium surface through an electrochemical process.

The right choice depends on the material, the part and the intended result. See anodising

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What you should know about coating

01 What is coating?

Coating lays a coloured layer over the metal surface to enhance protection and appearance.

02 What pieces can be assessed?

Gates, rims, bicycle frames, motorcycle components and industrial parts are common examples; selection depends on the material and preparation.

03 How does coating differ from anodising?

Coating adds a visible film, while anodising modifies the aluminium surface. Material and finish requirements dictate the best path.

04 Can I choose the colour?

Coating supports various colours and textures. Share your preferences so we can confirm compatibility.

05 What should I send for a quote?

Describe the piece, quantities, desired treatment, dimensions, photographs and usage context. We may ask for more information if needed.

What finish are you looking for?

Share photographs of the part and tell us the finish you have in mind.
